KCP&L Rebate Program for Missouri Update: Frequently Asked Questions

KCP&L Rebate Program for Missouri Update: FAQ

The KCP&L rebate program to assist businesses in becoming more energy-efficient has been in place for over eight years.  Every month, a portion of your electric bill payment to KCP&L goes to fund this program, so you are participating in the program whether or not you are taking advantage of the rebates available for funding your own projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are there any changes to the KCP&L Business Rebates Program for 2014?

A. Yes. Effective July 6, 2014, rebate guidelines for KCP&L’s Business Rebates program will change for customers in the KCP&L-MO service area (also referred to as the KCP&L Legacy service area). Business customers in the Greater Missouri Operations (GMO) service area will not be affected.

Here is a summary of the changes for applications submitted on or after July 6, 2014 under the MEEIA-approved program:

  1. Standard and Custom measures are available to ALL C&I customers regardless of size/rate class.
  2. Rebate caps have been raised to $250,000 per Company for ALL C&I customers regardless of size/rate class.
  3. Additional measures will now be included under the Standard program and will not be considered as part of a Custom program application.

Q. Why are rebate caps being raised and why are more measures now standard?

A. Under the new KCP&L-MO program, higher rebate caps are being made available to allow customers to tackle large projects all at once. Additional measures are now standard, and made available to ALL KCP&L MO customers, so customers can more easily determine their potential rebate for a project. Standard applications also require less analysis time, facilitating the pre-approval process.

What can you do to capitalize on the existing rebate program?

As mentioned, the program will still be in existence, but changes will impact companies who need to upgrade from T12 technology.  If your Missouri business wants to take advantage of the rebate program, you will need to work quickly over the coming weeks.  Worldwide Energy is certified in the KCP&L Energy Efficiency Rebate Program, as well as accredited through the Better Business Bureau as a reputable source for helping you with your energy saving projects.
